UTK and DENSO Complete AI in Manufacturing Workforce Training Program
The University of Tennessee, through the UT Institute for Public Service’s Center for Industrial Services (CIS), partnered with mobility supplier DENSO to deliver a hands-on AI workforce training curriculum. The program was created to help industrial teams understand how modern AI tools can support daily plant operations without replacing human decision-making.
Participants worked through machine learning basics, generative AI applications, predictive maintenance scenarios, and quality inspection workflows. Using a hybrid format, employees tackled real manufacturing case studies and completed team capstone projects to evaluate AI feasibility on actual production lines.
As part of this effort, DENSO has also joined AI TechX, the industry consortium arm of the statewide AI Tennessee initiative led by UT to foster long-term industry-academic collaboration.
